Exclusive Excerpt:
He broke off, his breath drying up as the sweep of the flashlight caught the gleam of eyes in the darkness. Lane’s heart plummeted to his toes before leaping up into his throat. A neon sign began flashing in his mind, blaring RUN! in vibrant yellow letters.
His hand shook as he swung his arm, directing the beam of light back over the clump of trees where he’d glimpsed the predatory gaze.
It was gone.
His own breaths sounded loud in his ears. Louder even than the whipping wind.
“Mr. Lane?”
Conall’s voice jerked him out of the panic-induced fog that had descended on him. He bent his knees, dropping down to Conall’s level and wrapping his arm around the boy’s waist.
“Put your arms around me.”
Lane was glad that his voice sounded level, calm, because that wasn’t at all what he was feeling. His eyes hurt from trying to examine every shadow beyond the little perimeter of his light. A headache started just behind his eyebrows.
Thankfully, Conall obeyed instantly, looping his arms around Lane’s neck. When he stood, the boy clamped his legs around Lane’s waist as well. Lane supported his weight with his right forearm as he held the light up in his left hand, trying to see as much as he could.
There was no further glimpse of glowing eyes, no more growls. Just darkness, and wind, and the creaking of trees.

Born in the artists’ community of Woodstock, NY, Morgan Elektra discovered her passion for writing at a young age, penning stories of monsters at the dining room table. After years working day jobs and moonlighting as a reviewer for popular genre website Dread Central, Morgan left the comfort of an office to follow her dreams of writing fiction. She spent the early twenty-teens as a freelance ghostwriter of erotica, but has now put aside the masks to write under her own name. Morgan recently obtained her MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University.
She writes dark fiction, paranormal romance, and erotica for those who, like her, are in love with the dark.
When not writing she can be found reading, or advocating for her local LGBTQ+ community. She currently lives near Savannah, GA with her husband, their cat Harlequin, and—if the rumors are to be believed (and she sincerely hopes they are)—an awful lot of ghosts.
