“Are you attracted to any of the wolves?” Jamie asked.

                That seemed to come out of nowhere.

Then again we were holding hands, and he was naked.

“Jamie –”

“Not me.” His mouth curved into a half-grin. “That would be an awkward conversation with Garr to say the least, and things with Owen are already confusing as fuck. No, I mean someone else. Maybe somebody a bit grumpy and growly, who smells like snow?”

My traitorous mind went directly to the person Jamie was talking about.

                Gideon.

“Jamie –”

He dropped my hand and faced me. “No hedging. No dodging. I won’t tell Garr or anybody else whatever you have to say. Just tell me the truth.”

I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.

“Gideon, but you already knew that,” I grumbled.

His eyes lit up. “How long?”

“Second night. He interrupted that fight at the wrong damn time, Jamie.”

“Why would that matter?” he asked.

“Fighting has a certain impact on me.”

Adrenaline.

Arousal.

Joy.

Lust, rolling through me as I stared up at the white wolf.

“It turns you on?” Jamie asked.

“Sometimes,” I said.

And all of those joyful, lustful feelings had associated themselves with the white wolf. Of course, it didn’t hurt that he was a good-looking man. In his human form, he was a muscled work of art. In his wolf form, he was power and grace personified.

And even when he was angry with me – those gorgeous blue eyes of his flashing as he called me an asshole – I found him beautiful. Exciting.

He lit me up inside, and he called to a part of myself that had been dormant for years.

                I wanted him.

I wanted to see the complex, tormented wolf smile with real pleasure, and know it was because of me.

                I wanted him to bury his fingers in my hair, and feel his body shiver under me as I brought him to orgasm. I wanted to feel those fingers give me one of the smallest, most delicious pains as he clenched them in my hair and came down my throat.

                I wanted other things too.

                Things the innocent people of this place might not understand.
