The Deliverance of Marek Sommers
By Ashlyn Drewek
Marek Sommers is everything Misha Chernyshevsky shouldn’t want—young, angry at the world, and, worst of all, a man. The fact Marek is dealing drugs for a competitor is the icing on the cake. None of that deters the Russian mafia boss, though.
From the moment he lays eyes on the surly bartender, Misha is captivated. Learning about Marek’s troubled past and fearing for his future, Misha is certain that Marek needs his help—whether he wants it or not.
Convincing Marek to trust him, however, proves to be a more formidable task than Misha anticipates. But if they have any chance of surviving the brutal world of the Russian mafia, Misha needs Marek to trust him before it’s too late.
THE DELIVERANCE OF MAREK SOMMERS is a slow-burn MM romance about a down-and-out bartender with a harrowing past and the Russian mafia boss determined to save him from it all. Violence and heartache make the tender moments that much sweeter before a well-deserved HEA. It is intended for a mature audience and reader discretion is advised. Without waiting for a reply, he turned on his heel. I seized his bicep and pulled him back, keeping him close while I desperately tried to salvage the conversation. My lead on Nirvana was still the top priority, but I couldn’t pretend I no longer had a personal interest in him, either. “Is this about money? I’ll double your salary.”
A dark smile stretched across his face but he didn’t fight to get away. It reminded me of the night at Dalton’s, how steady his pulse had been when I had my hand on his throat, that same cocksure expression. “Are you that hard up for me? Has no one ever told you ‘No’ before? Or is this still about getting to my supplier? For your information, I didn’t sell shit at Delirium. Check the cameras if you don’t believe me.”
Since appealing to his rational side wasn’t working and he didn’t believe in common human decency, I begrudgingly switched tactics to see if I could gain any ground. As sex-focused as he was, maybe that was the only way to get through to him. If it meant earning his trust in a roundabout way, I’d paint myself as a lust-driven stalker especially since that’s how he already saw me—how he saw everyone, for that matter. And now I almost certainly knew the reason why.
Caressing the side of his face, I dragged my fingers down the column of his throat. The suspicion in his eyes lingered, but his breathing quickened as my hand traveled over his chest, down his abdomen, and past his belt buckle before dropping away completely without touching what lay behind his zipper. I licked my lips, angling my face closer, our lips nearly touching.
“Please, Marek. Don’t make me beg.”
Despite the quick swallow, he didn’t look away. His gaze stayed locked on mine, allowing me a moment to marvel at the true color of his eyes. I knew they were brown, but in the daylight, they gleamed a dark amber color, like Baltic treasure.
“I don’t get you,” he murmured. It was probably the most honest and least hostile thing he’d ever said to me.
“Come back and let me show you. You’d be doing me the favor, after all.”
I could sense a fissure beginning to form in the wall between us. The fact he didn’t spit out an immediate “No” or a slew of curses meant the seduction was working. He was actually considering it. Relieved as I was, I silently reminded myself to stay the course and not rush him. It had to be his choice or my new strategy was never going to work.

About the Author:
International best-selling and award-winning dark romance author Ashlyn Drewek has always been a hopeless romantic. She’s also fascinated by the dark, macabre things in life such as Halloween, murder, cemeteries, and witchcraft. Not necessarily in that order.
Most of her time is spent making up stories in her head or researching obscure historical topics. The results of those efforts usually end up in a book as some sort of weird Easter egg or symbolism. Anything to make Edgar Allan Poe proud.
