But something happens to make Nicolas retreat into silence at a time when Frank, for the first time in his life, feels head over heels in love.

Helga looked shocked. “What did you call me?”
He took a deep breath to summon courage to be honest, no matter the consequence. “I called you what you are. Mom. My name is Michael. I am your son.”
For a moment, she stared at him blankly. Her face paled, as though she’d seen a ghost.
“What was your name again?”
“Michael. I’m Michael. And I am your son. I live in New York City. Right now, I’m a performer in a Broadway musical.”
Suddenly, she gasped. Her face turned crimson. Her eyes misted over. She stood and opened her arms. “Well, don’t just sit there, like a knot on a log. If you’re really my son, then get your ass up and give me a hug.”
