When one of the leaders of the village coven fails to show up for the weekly knitting meeting, Hyde finds themselves investigating a horrific murder side by side with their long-term crush, Teresa Vega.
Suspicion immediately falls on other members of their group. Hyde and Teresa struggle to find answers to the growing list of questions. It’s made all the more difficult when the killer has them in their sights.

Exclusive Excerpt:
Hyde finished their morning beverage while idly watching Mortar and Pestle stalk around the living room. “Are you two coming? Or is there a shadow you want to hunt first?”
Mortar and Pestle followed them down the narrow carpeted stairs into the shop. Hyde immediately went over to pull back the heavy curtains, allowing the morning light to filter inside. Sun rays danced playfully through the stained-glass windows that had been a gift from their local glazier. The four panels across the front of the shop made up an autumn view of the loch and surrounding area. In the mornings, it made for a jewel-toned glow.
It was peaceful. Almost serene. And one of their favourite parts of the shop. Hyde often lost themselves in the magic of it.
Faint burgundy lights twinkled all around the tops of the shelves. They’d been a present from Morrigan, one of the members of the local witch coven. She ran the village post office with her seeing-eye crow perched on her shoulder.
The lights never went out. Never dimmed. They twinkled merrily along the spines of the books like burnt orange leaves in the brisk October wind. It was all a part of the magic of home.
Grabbing a feather duster, Hyde did a quick whizz around the shelves. They didn’t do a thorough cleaning—it made their skin crawl to touch certain cloths, and the smell of detergent burnt their throat.
Thankfully, the brownies who ran Feather Duster, the local cleaning company, were a dab hand at keeping the bookshop spotless. Isla, Lileas, and Fiona Lyall had all moved to South Myrddin years ago after a family illness struck the three of them. They didn’t talk about it often, but the village rallied around them to help open their business.
Hyde flipped two signs on the counter, one from She to They and the other from Hello to Shh.
Stepping across the room to the record player stashed between two bookshelves in the back of the shop, Hyde put on one of their favourite Ambrose Dance Band albums. The music immediately lifted their spirits. They picked Pestle up, playfully dancing across the floor to the sound of the ’30s.
