Exclusive Excerpt:

With a grumble under his breath, Emery hauled himself out of bed, cursing the cold. He folded his arms tightly across his chest, tucking his hands into his armpits and shuffled over to fiddle with the thermostat.

Curiously, the heat was working perfectly fine. The digital display claimed it was a balmy seventy degrees in the room, though Emery knew that couldn’t be true if he was seeing each breath, nipples hardened and skin breaking out in goosebumps. Emery mentally added another item for his to do list in the morning to fix this new problem.

A breeze rustled, tickling Emery’s bare back and knocking fringe loose to hang in his face. Emery shuddered and pushed his hair back. There was a simple explanation.

His parents couldn’t understand his desire to buy a historic house rather than get something built to his custom specifications, but still Emery didn’t regret buying an old home. Even having new windows installed, this problem was an issue every old house faced. The cold air had to be seeping in from somewhere, though Emery found the house to be colder now than he remembered during the fall.
