Elias Pov
Mel’s shirt was almost the same shade of pink I wore. I wondered if Jodi knew and picked out something to match. But no, Jodi couldn’t have known unless he called and asked.
“Did Jodi ask what you would be wearing today so that we’d match?” I didn’t pause my line of thinking before blurting out the question.
Mel laughed softly. “No. He didn’t. It’s a coincidence.”
I nodded and started calculating the chances of that happening. Mel obviously ordered their clothes custom, which I didn’t. Jodi took me shopping. Maybe Jodi ordered things from the same place Mel did? I’d have to ask him. I didn’t like shopping, but it was one of those things that had to be done. I enjoyed going with Jodi. He did all the talking so I wouldn’t have to. He always knew what would look good on me. He liked to talk about what other people wore all the time. I think he found amusement in horribly dressed people for as much as he talked about them.
“Elias!” Mel’s raised voice pierced my thoughts, and my eyes shot to their quirked lips showing what I assumed was amusement.
“Sorry.” I shifted my gaze to the table.
“What were you thinking about?” Mel sounded genuinely interested but I wasn’t sure. So often, people asked that question not really wanting an answer.
“Jodi takes me shopping. I don’t like shopping but I like going with Jodi.” There I kept it simple and didn’t ramble.
“He does have good taste. Did he pick out what you’re wearing today?”
“Yes. He came over last night to help me. He said this was a date. I didn’t know it was a date. Is this a date?” I let my eyes wander across Mel’s chest. The shirt was tailored for them. It fit their lean body perfectly.
“Yes.” The confidence in Mel’s voice eased my nerves.
“Okay.” I was glad that they didn’t answer with a question. I hated when people did that. I had thought out the possibility of Mel asking if I wanted this to be a date. That was the logical question-answer to my question. I would have answered yes.
