Exclusive Excerpt from War by Sienna Moreau
He wondered what Uriel would think of the shapes tattooed on War’s collarbones. Could he convince Uriel to trace each perfect feather with his tongue? He’d risk being maimed just for the chance to try.
War darted a glance at Uriel’s face. There was color in his cheeks, a light rose that made Uriel seem softer somehow.
His orchid purple eyes were slightly glazed, the lids lowered. They were watching War intently, but the fact that Uriel hadn’t pulled away, the fact that he never did when War touched him like this, said more than words ever could.
“You want me to touch you.”
“No,” Uriel whispered.
“You like it.”
“I don’t.”
“Lying is a sin, Archangel Uriel,” War said mockingly. “Tell the truth, I dare you.”
“You dare me? Do I look stupid enough to fall for your tricks, War?”
“Well …” War trailed off. He ran the backs of his fingers up and across Uriel’s shoulder, the shirt pulling tight over him. He wanted to rip it off, expose all of him.
Uriel shivered, his nipples hardening. War’s knees almost buckled from the lust that rocketed through him. “Tell me you want it,” he urged. He could see in Uriel’s eyes that if he just took, Uriel would allow him to. But War wasn’t interested in passive acceptance; he wanted Uriel to admit that he wanted War the same way War wanted him. He’d admitted it once, but it had been too easy. This time, War would earn it.
“Hell will freeze over first.”
“With your Gift, I bet we could make it happen,” War said, a smile dancing on his lips. He leaned in and licked the soft skin of Uriel’s neck. It was a sweet mix of sweat and something cold, a satisfying balm to his own heat. He bit down, bringing Uriel’s blood to the surface, leaving small red dots in his wake. “I’d make it good for you,” he promised. “There’s no shame in taking something that’s freely offered.”
War stumbled when Uriel shoved him away.
“I have no interest in being your plaything or of being burned by your clumsy attempts at seduction,” Uriel said coldly. “Keep your hands to yourself; I’m sure once we’re home, you can find someone to satisfy your disgusting cravings.”
War watched him go, disappearing through the thick bushes and dense trees. He smiled as he licked the tip of his thumb, tasting the lingering traces of Uriel’s skin.
Uriel was a terrible liar.
