On the way to the master, Ryker stopped to look at the family photos hung in the hallway. “You take these?”“Only the ones I’m not actually in.” There were quite a few of them, mostly of Chase and Jill. But also a few with our parents and a couple of me from when I was a kid.
“You and Jill were adorable. This is y’all, right? You look about Chase’s age.” He pointed out one of my favorites.
“Yeah. We had just turned eight, actually. And that’s my grandfather behind us. We were at a camp out in Texas for the summer. Lots of fishing, riding dirt bikes or quads, they had animals like goats and pigs and shit. It was a blast.”
“Very cute.”
“One of the best summers of my life. We even went to a neighboring farm and got to feed the baby cows. I think it was that summer that kept me grounded. I wish I could take Chase.”
“Why don’t you?”
“I have no clue where it is. My grandfather had friends out there, but I don’t know who they were.”
“But you could—”
“It doesn’t matter.” I turned and put my finger on his lips. “We only have a couple hours.” I pushed my bedroom door open, determined not to derail the action.
Ryker went in and sat on my bed. He looked around the room, his gaze eventually landing on me. “Come here.”
I stepped between his legs, and he reached up, sliding his hands under my golf shirt.
“You look very preppy, and all I wanted to do all day was mess you up, Jason.” He stood, pulling the shirt over my head and pressing his body against mine. “Is that all right?”
