Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway:
The Worst Bad Thing
By J.E. Birk
He thinks I’m worth saving. He doesn’t know how wrong he is.
Some mistakes can never be redeemed.
I know that better than anyone. Last year I made the ultimate mistake—I cost someone their life. This trip I’m taking through Iceland, England, and France may look like the trip of a lifetime, but it’s not. This is a mission. I have to pay back the debts I owe the world.
Then I meet Gabriel Carrillo. Gabriel is kind, caring, and generous, and he seems to be on a mission of his own to make sure our paths keep crossing. Between sunrise swims in the Blue Lagoon and afternoon walks through Stonehenge, I find myself wanting to spend more and more time with him.
But Gabriel doesn’t know my secrets. He doesn’t know what I’m out to achieve.
He doesn’t know that my future is already set.
The Worst Bad Thing is a hurt/comfort romance set across three countries. It stars a former soldier and the mysterious man he falls in love with on a plane, and it features a HEA. Please see the Author’s Note for content warnings.

An Evening Walk
We walk to the closest Tube stop and travel silently to Earl’s Court, holding hands the whole way. Talking isn’t necessary. He knows where he’s going, and we both know I’m going with him.
If he is an axe murderer, he’s the nicest one I’ve ever met—and a damn good kisser on top of that.
“Wow,” I say as we step into his hotel room. “You actually have room to walk around. It’s a miracle.”
He laughs. “This isn’t exactly high-end, Tate. But yes. I do like my space. I try to avoid those super-economy hotels.”
He closes the door behind us and then walks up to me and takes my face in his hands. “Would it be okay if I got into your pants, Tate?”
Before my head even knows what my body is doing, I press my lips to his, my stomach to his, my hips to his. It’s been so long since I’ve been this close to anyone—so long since I wanted to be this close to anyone.
Gabriel pushes back and drives his mouth and his whole body against me. My dick is already half-hard in my boxers.
“God, Tate,” he whispers in my ear. “I’m so glad we ended up on the same plane.”
He unbuttons and wrestles my shirt off while I slowly unbutton his. I run my tongue back and forth over his lips and listen to him make small groaning noises that are almost whimpers. It’s incredibly endearing—and hot—to hear such a small noise coming out of such a huge man.
