I forget how spectacular this place is. The fairy garden, a playroom designed for the littles of The Garden, is painted in pale colors. Lifelike trees and vines surround the space, and the whole area is lit by twinkling fairy lights.
Despite the exhaustion seeping into my bones, this room feels like a quick recharge. A jolt of energy floods my system as I look around, quickly darting my gaze over the littles spread out in various stages of play. My eyes snag on the comfy beanbag chairs in one corner, but I don’t linger for long.
Naptime can wait.
My attention catches on an older little wearing a pair of bright-red overalls, kneeling by a set of LEGO DUPLO building blocks. He looks like a cuddly bear. His hair is light brown, sprinkled with strands of gray. He seems happy playing with his toys, swaying side to side as he adds a green block to the top of his tower.
Daddy Dean, the extraordinary man he’s turning out to be, notices my distraction. “Sweetheart, that’s a perfect place to start.”
With my hand still firmly held in his, Daddy Dean steers us to the corner, stopping just short of the toys. Leaning down, he whispers, “This is Eric.” He points to a younger man sitting on a tall chair with his arms crossed over his chest. “And that is his Daddy, Sawyer.”
