“OMG!” River covers his now fiery face with his hands. “I can’t believe actual extraterrestrials are reading my alien porn story! That is hardcore embarrassing. Totally awkward as fuck.”
“The story is actually rather entertaining,” my father admits, and I gape at him in astonishment.
“You read it, Dad? Since when?”
River’s pretty pink mouth hangs open again, and I have a maddening urge to ravish those luscious lips until they’re swollen and wet with my saliva. “You read my story? Oh my god!”
My dad clears his throat again and looks away from me, a faint blush tingeing his cheeks. “Your mother loves it and makes us read it together each week. Right before bed.”
“Please, say no more. Major TMI, Dad.” I really didn’t need to know that.
River seems absolutely tickled by this news as he quickly gets over his embarrassment and regards my father with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. “Is it wrong I find that kind of hot? I have to say Maddox, you’re a total DILF. And I mean that in the best way possible.”
My tentacles squirm, displeased, and I barely hold back a jealous growl. What’s wrong with me? I’ve never acted this way before. My instincts are entirely focused on River Sullivan and could give a flying fuck about logic and reasoning.
“Er…thank you, I think.” I’m relieved to see my dad take a step back from him.
River holds up his hands. “Don’t worry. I won’t make any moves on you. The truth is, I only have eyes for your son.” He flutters his eyelashes at me.
I struggle to keep my face blank, but my traitorous hearts speed up in response to those words. My tentacles do a satisfied wiggle inside me.
“Well,” my dad continues, awkwardly. “I like to keep up on what the current fads are among the various peoples of the universe, so naturally, I had to find out more about your story.” He glances in my direction. “Ahem. Isn’t that why you read it, son?”
“Wh-what? I don’t…I’ve never…”
Aiden snorts. “Yeah, right.”
River is staring at me with a mix of intrigue and amazement. “You’ve…read my story?”
And, all of a sudden, I’m stupidly tongue-tied. “Uh…I…Well…”
“Do you like it?” he asks, peeking up at me from beneath his long lashes.
