Exclusive Excerpt from Fate of the Moon

“You’re terrible,” Shay whispered when Alfie’s mouth started kissing below his jaw. Shay leaned his head to the side and savored the feel of warm lips on his skin. “Alfie …” He leaned away just enough to turn in Alfie’s embrace and straddle his alpha’s lap.
Alfie’s hands ran up the outsides of Shay’s thighs as he stared up at him with wide-eyed wonder. “What are you doing up there?”
“I don’t know.” Shay dug his hands into Alfie’s hair, and Alfie’s lips parted on a gasp.
“You shouldn’t—”
“I’m just sitting here.”
Alfie’s hands wrapped around his waist and squeezed. Shay touched their foreheads together. “How did you just have a cigarette and still smell sweet?” Alfie asked.
Shay had no quippy retort. Instead, he pressed a soft kiss to Alfie’s upper lip. When Shay leaned away, Alfie leaned forward and kissed him back, oh-so-gently. Shay tried to digest every detail of Alfie’s lips against his—their softness surrounded by the hint of scruff, an alpha in need of a shave. There was the tease of wetness and warmth, even as Alfie began pulling away, but Shay was not finished. He clutched the back of Alfie’s head and opened his mouth wider wanting more, more, more.
That wetness and warmth increased, along with the touch of Alfie’s tongue. Alfie’s hands on him—one on Shay’s upper back, the other on his lower—were echoes in the depths of a cave as Shay explored Alfie’s mouth. Noses were a problem. From practice with Tanner, Shay knew they got in the way sometimes, but he did his best to tilt his head the right way to kiss Alfie deeper.
He didn’t even realize he’d been rolling his hips until Alfie squeezed his upper thigh tightly and pulled Shay’s mouth away with a hand in his hair. “Stop,” Alfie ordered. His tone was soft; his intention was not. “Christ, you’re aggressive.”
His hair still in Alfie’s grip, Shay whimpered. “More.”
Alfie was out of breath. “Look at you. Fuck, you’re so tempting.”
Shay started moving his lower body again, but Alfie now gripped his hip to make him stop, digging his fingertips into Shay’s skin. There was a touch of warning and the dullest pain. When Alfie relinquished his grip on Shay’s hair, he expected to be pushed away, but Alfie leaned his forehead against Shay’s collarbone instead. Aware of it or not, his thumb drew circles on Shay’s bony hip.
Shay wove his fingers into the soft, shaggy hair on the back of Alfie’s head, pressing his cheek against the messy locks. “Do you like that I’m aggressive?”
Warm breath tickled Shay’s skin. “Probably shouldn’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because you being aggressive turns me on, and we’re not married or bonded, and you should not be in my lap right now.”
