The Professor’s Date
By Lane Hayes
The Script Club, Book 5
The professor, the hair stylist, and a wedding date…
Help! My sister is getting married and according to her, I need a date. And a makeover. I’m a busy man, though. I don’t have time to meet eligible bachelors, and the tape holding my glasses together works just fine. Until my hair stylist steps on them.
Yes, Noah, my dazzling dreamboat of a hair guru created a mini disaster, but I don’t mind at all. He’s a sweet, funny, kind jock who—
Screech! No jocks. I have nothing in common with sporty people.
Except…Noah is different.
I don’t date. However, I’m not opposed to offering fashion advice to a sexy professor in need. A haircut, a quick shopping expedition…
Boom! Mission accomplished.
Not so fast. I’ve misjudged the situation and my attraction to the geek with the tragic sense of style. Sure, Thomas is too smart for me by a long shot, but there’s something about him that makes it easy to forget my past. It might be his quietly commanding nature or his movie-star good looks. Or maybe it’s just him.
All I know is that I’m very tempted to be the professor’s date.
The Professor’s Date is an MM geek/jock romance featuring a nerdy professor, a soccer-playing hair stylist, and a quest for the perfect date!
Breathing heavily and blinking water from my eyes, it occurred to me that all this thinking wasn’t good for me. Talking to him was better than jerking off to the memory of him. I hoped.
So I gave in and texted the professor.
How was your Monday? What did you wear today? Did you get all the compliments? Did the students and faculty faint at the sight of you?
My cell vibrated with an incoming call a moment later. “Hello, Noah. I’m still at work, wearing a plain white shirt with khakis. No one has said a word, and thankfully, no one has fainted.”
“They’re fainting on the inside,” I replied as I curled into a corner of my sofa.
“I hope not. How was your day?”
I savored the sweet familiarity of that simple question.
“A mixed bag. I just got home from practice, showered, and popped a pizza in the oven. Nothing exciting.” I bit my lip, hugging a throw pillow to my chest. “I’d rather hear about you. Why are you still at work?”
“Class ended at eight. I’m grading papers now.”
“And hoping someone notices your dashing new wardrobe?”
Thomas chuckled, and damn, I loved that sound. “Something like that.”
“Well, please tell me you at least wore your new boxer briefs.”
“Oh,” I purred. “What color?”
“Mmm. Good choice. What else?”
“Shirt, socks, shoes…”
“Oh, Thomas. We need to work on your phone-sex technique.”
“Phone sex? I’m not…I didn’t—I don’t know how to do that.”
My grin felt like it split my face in half. “I’ll start. First, set the scene…I’m sitting on my sofa in nothing but the tiniest G-string and—”
“Wait. Is that true?” he intercepted incredulously.
“No…but we can pretend,” I teased.
Silence. My smile dipped as I waited for him to fill it. Damn it. I’d gone too far.
“I have a question, if you don’t mind.”
“You texted and picked up my call. I’m taking that as a good sign. Does this mean we’re friends?” he asked tentatively.
“We were always friends, Professor.”
“Okay, but perhaps we should define the terms of friendship. I don’t want to get it wrong.”
“Terms?” I frowned.
“Well, you don’t share all of your highs and lows with all of your friends. Some get your work concerns, others belong to a wider circle…and some strong-arm their way in, make unrealistic demands, and ask a million questions,” Thomas replied matter-of-factly. “I fall into the latter category.”
I burst into laughter, suddenly feeling lighter than I had since Sunday afternoon. “I like friends who show initiative. Yes, we’re friends and yes, you can ask me anything.”
“Okay…what are you actually wearing?”

Following The Rules
The geek, the jock, and a new set of rules…
My friend’s brother needs an academic assistant and I need a job. Problem…jocks are my weakness. Seriously. I lose my ability to speak coherently around muscle-bound hotties. Oh yeah, I lose my inhibitions too—not a good look for a guy with a genius IQ. So what am I going to do about Simon?
Finishing college isn’t high on my list of priorities, but my future in professional football is looking bleak. I need a plan B or C, and I could use some help navigating life as an undergrad. Topher is perfect. He’s also a little strange…but in a good way. And I like the way I feel when I’m around him—as though anything is possible. Maybe if we follow our hearts, we’ll find what we’re looking for. But that means changing the rules…
Following the Rules is a MM, bisexual awakening romance starring a lovable nerd, a cool jock, and some extracurricular fun.
